2026 Brownfields Cleanup Grant

The Port of Tacoma is applying for a Brownfields Cleanup Grant through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the “Parcel 92” Maritime Center cleanup project and invites public comment on the project and grant application. Learn more about the EPA Brownfields Program.

Overview:
“Parcel 92” is a brownfield in need of remediation to clean up historically contaminated soil and groundwater from past industrial/manufacturing operations at this location. This parcel is located across the Wheeler Osgood Waterway from the Port Maritime Center project site.

The Maritime Center project is being developed in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools and will be home to new Port business offices and the Maritime|253 skills center, providing career/technical education in the maritime and industrial trades to junior/senior level high school students throughout Pierce County at no cost.

Location:
Parcel 92 is located at 459 and 465 East 15th Street in Tacoma, on the south side of the Wheeler Osgood Waterway. It is located within the Port’s Maritime Center master planning area.

Public Comment Period:
The public comment period on this remediation project grant application is open through noon on Jan. 26. Please submit your comments by completing the below form.

Public Information Meeting on January 22 at Noon (online via Teams):
